At the 44th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, the ARDA AflaSensor Plus was awarded the gold medal and the special prize from the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA). International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva was held between 13th-17th April 2016 at the Palexpo, Switzerland. More than 1,000 new inventions and products from 40 countries had been shown and were graded by the International Jury of 85 specialists for different awards standing as labels for quality.
The ARDA AflaSensor Plus was developed by researchers from NECTEC, Dr. Adisorn Tuantranont, Senior Researcher and Director of Thailand Organic & Printed Electronics Innovation Center (TOPIC), Dr. Chanpen Karuwan Mr. Wattanasit Pimpao, Mr. Assawapong Sappat, and Ms. Patiya Pasakon, in collaboration with Mrs. Wansika Kiatpathomchai and Ms. Jantana Kampeera from BIOTEC.
ARDA AflaSense Plus is the world’s first aflatoxin detector that utilizes electrochemical detection method with innovative graphene-based sensing strip prepared by printing technology. It can be used for screening test to detect aflatoxin contamination in agricultural products, agriculture-derived products, human and animal food with good resolution, high accuracy and rapid detection time. In addition, it is compact, portable, low-cost and flexible to use with diverse chemicals including LAMP, enzyme and antibody for detections of aflatoxin species.
The body of AflaSensor Plus is made of an aluminum alloy that conforms to the standard of medical-grade instruments. It is durable, shock-resistant, electromagnetic interference-free and resistant to chemical corrosion. Presently, ARDA AflaSensor Plus is on the process to be certified by Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC) Standard in Thailand.
