ศูนย์นวัตกรรมการผลิตยั่งยืน หรือ Sustainable Manufacturing Center (SMC) อยู่ภายใต้การดูแลของเขตนวัตกรรมระเบียงเศรษฐกิจพิเศษภาคตะวันออก หรือ EECi และเป็นกิจกรรมหลักภายใต้เมืองนวัตกรรมระบบอัตโนมัติ หุ่นยนต์ และระบบอัจฉริยะ (ARIPOLIS)  มุ่งเน้นการพัฒนาแพลตฟอร์มที่ผู้ประกอบการอุตสาหกรรมการผลิต ผู้พัฒนาระบบ นวัตกร นักวิจัยตลอดจนนักศึกษาในสาขาที่เกี่ยวข้อง สามารถเข้ามาใช้ประโยชน์ผ่านกิจกรรมต่างๆ ทั้งในรูปแบบการสาธิต การเรียนรู้และการทดลองปฏิบัติจริง รวมไปถึงกิจกรรมวิจัยเพื่อการสร้างนวัตกรรม SMC ถือเป็นโครงสร้างพื้นฐานที่สำคัญในการพัฒนาศักยภาพทางการแข่งขันของอุตสาหกรรมไทย เพื่อมุ่งไปสู่ยุคอุตสาหกรรม 4.0 (Industry 4.0) และส่งแรงขับเคลื่อนถึงการเป็นประเทศเศรษฐกิจฐานนวัตกรรม (Thailand 4.0) 

เมื่อวันที่ 25 สิงหาคม 2563 คณะรัฐมนตรีลงมติเห็นชอบในหลักการโครงการจัดตั้งศูนย์นวัตกรรมการผลิตยั่งยืน กรอบงบประมาณ 5 ปี (พ.ศ. 2564–2568) รวมจำนวน 5,408.76 ล้านบาท

Sustainable Manufacturing Center (SMC) is administered by The Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation or EECi, and it is a principle activity of the Automation, Robotics, and Intelligent Electronics Platform (ARIPOLIS), which focuses on the development of platforms for manufacturing industry. System developers, innovators, researchers, including students and innovators in relevant fields can come to gain benefits through various activities including demonstrations and hands-on experimentation. SMC is considered a key infrastructure in boosting the competitiveness of Thai industry to look forward to the era of Industry 4.0 and provide the motivation for a transformation to an innovation-based economy country.

On August 25, 2020, the Cabinet approved in principle the establishment of Sustainable Manufacturing Center with a 5-year budget framework (2021-2025) totaling 5,408.76 million baht.
